A gas analyzer measures the concentration of one or more gases in a process gas, room air, or safety atmosphere — continuously, in real time, and traceable.
We design and build extractive online and inline gas analyzers for continuous measurement in process gas, for room and LEL/UEG monitoring, plus the matching accessories for sample conditioning (gas coolers) and data evaluation.
Five physical measurement principles cover virtually every gas of industrial interest. We pick the right one for each application — or combine several in a multi-gas analyzer.
CO₂ · CH₄ · CO · N₂O · SF₆ · 100+
An IR source emits an infrared beam through the gas cell; molecules absorb at characteristic wavelengths (Lambert-Beer). Patented ZeroLock zero-point correction — annual calibration is enough.
NO · NO₂ · SO₂ · H₂S · O₃ · Cl₂
A UV-light beam is selectively absorbed by molecules with electronic transitions in the ultraviolet — perfect for trace gases where NDIR cross-sensitivities are too high.
O₂
O₂ is one of very few paramagnetic gases — it is drawn into a magnetic field. Our cell exploits this effect without moving parts: drift-free, high accuracy, vibration-tolerant, no chemical wear-out.
O₂ · H₂S · CO · HCl · NH₃
The target gas diffuses through a membrane to a working electrode where a redox reaction generates a current proportional to concentration. Compact, ppm-level sensitivity, ideal for safety monitoring.
CH₄
A tunable diode laser scans a single methane absorption line at ppb accuracy. Highly selective, highly sensitive, without cross-sensitivity.

Founded over 30 years ago as Fresenius Umwelttechnik GmbH, we can now look back on 175 years of company history and experience in chemical analysis and services as a family business and former subsidiary of the Fresenius Institute.
She company Fresenius Umwelttechnik has its origins in the chemical laboratory founded by Carl Remigius Fresenius in 1848, which has been an integral part of the chemical industry ever since.
Fresenius Umwelttechnik stands for precise measurement technology that meets the highest standards and sustainably increases the efficiency of industrial processes.
With over 30 years of experience, we offer our customers not only innovative solutions, but also customized systems that contribute to measurable quality improvements and more environmentally friendly production.
As a leading system partner, we rely on state-of-the-art technologies to make our customers' processes more efficient, secure and sustainable, thereby making a decisive contribution to a digital and automated future.
Our vision is to create measurement technology that goes beyond pure data acquisition and enables our customers to make intelligent decisions automatically and without in-depth specialist knowledge.
Using advanced technologies, we offer solutions that analyse and interpret measurement data in real time, making process optimization intuitive and efficient. We see a future in which our measurement technology enables industry to operate in a sustainable, precise and environmentally conscious manner - fully automated.
We see ourselves changing from a measuring device manufacturer to a high-tech company that focuses on digital measurement data.
Tradition becomes technology. Four areas where we set the bar today.

In NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) measurement, a infrared beam passes through the gas cell. Molecules such as CO₂, CO, CH₄, N₂O or SO₂ absorb at characteristic wavelengths (Beer-Lambert law). The device calculates the gas concentration from the measured attenuation — typically with ppm to vol-% accuracy.
Drift means a sensor's zero point slowly wanders over time, distorting the measured values. Instead of compensating for drift with frequent recalibration, Fresenius eliminates the measurement error directly in the optical path of the measurement cell. The result: patented long-term stability, annual calibration is sufficient, no test gas required.
We cover virtually every gas of industrial interest: CO₂, CO, CH₄, N₂O, SF₆ and 100+ others via NDIR; NO, NO₂, SO₂, H₂S, O₃, Cl₂ via NDUV; O₂ paramagnetic or electrochemical; H₂S, HCl, NH₃ electrochemical; and CH₄ via TDLAS with ppb accuracy.
Multiple gases can absorb in similar wavelength regions — cross-sensitivity skews the measurement. Our devices use targeted wavelength analysis and mathematical correction methods to precisely separate overlapping signals. Measured values remain accurate even in complex gas mixtures.
Thanks to the patented ZeroLock zero-point correction, annual calibration is typically sufficient. No test gas is needed — this saves ongoing costs and significantly reduces maintenance effort.
The Cloud Connect Kit connects your Fresenius gas analyzers to the Fresenius Cloud via mobile network — independent of your plant IT. You get real-time measurement data, automatic fault diagnostics, remote diagnostics and push notifications for incidents. Existing devices can be easily retrofitted.
Yes. We provide measurement solutions for continuous monitoring of the lower explosion limit (LEL) for methane, CO, H₂S and other combustible or toxic gases — running reliably even under vibration, temperature variations and high humidity. For ATEX zones we offer specialized devices such as the TINA InSitu analyzer.
Premium components and German manufacturing ensure a hardware lifespan of over 30 years with 10+ years of spare parts guarantee. With low-maintenance design (annual calibration, no test gas, automatic zero-point correction), the investment remains economical for decades.
