Everything for Biogas Measurement

Biogas measurement technology must cover widely varying requirements – from simple process monitoring of an agricultural biogas plant to highly precise quality control during biomethane feed-in to the natural gas grid. Fresenius Instruments has developed the right device for each level and thus offers one of the most comprehensive biogas measurement solutions on the market.

For standard plants, the BioBasic is the first choice: as a plug-and-play analyzer, it continuously measures CH₄, CO₂, H₂S and O₂ and is ready for use immediately without complex installation. Up to 5 gas inputs enable monitoring of multiple measurement points. Flame arresters protect the plant against flashback – the BioBasic itself is installed outside Ex zones. The GA220 Biomethane targets operators with advanced requirements: as a multi-gas analyzer, it combines NDIR technology with paramagnetic O₂ measurement and provides the accuracy of main components necessary for feed-in monitoring.

Where trace gases in the ppb range are critical – such as sulfur compounds that can damage gas grids and compressors – the Biomethane TDLAS complements the portfolio. Its laser-based TDLAS measurement principle achieves sensitivities not possible with NDIR. The RCI series gas coolers provide clean, dry sample gas with just 0.86% residual moisture across all installations.

The Cloud Connect Kit connects all biogas measurement devices to a central monitoring platform: measurement data, status messages and alarms are transmitted in real time via mobile network. Operators with multiple plant locations can keep all measurement points in view without needing to be on site. Combined with patented zero-point correction without test gas, 30+ years device lifespan and 10+ years spare parts guarantee, the result is a biogas measurement ecosystem that operates cost-effectively and reliably over the long term.
